Chocolate salami

No bake, super easy to make.

Is it just me or is it our time, as millennials, to dive deep into nostalgia? 90’s boops remixed, lots of our favorite shows remade and don’t get me started on the 2000’s low rise jeans coming back.

Needless to say with all that’s going on in the world right now, we all might need a bit of comforting nostalgia this Christmas.

And that brings me to this no-bake, fast. 10 minute vegan dessert which was a staple in my childhood and lots of european homes: it’s rich, satisfying and a great choose-your-own adventure type of dessert – having the freedom to add whichever nuts or dried fruit you enjoy the most.

This recipe has 4-6 servings

Dry ingredients

– 400 g vegan biscuits
– 50 g cacao powder
– 100 g nuts & dried fruit of choice

Wet ingredients

~ 150 ml plant milk
– 50 g vegan chocolate
– 1 rum essence

Add the biscuits to a bowl and break them with your hands, having some small and coarse crumb. Heat up the milk and add the chocolate to melt. Pour over the biscuits and add nuts (I used pecan, hazelnuts and walnuts) and dried fruit of choice (I used raisins), cacao, a bit of salt and the rum essence. Mix well together until combined – add more warm milk if necessary.

Spread the mixture out on plastic wrap and shape it into a log. Roll up the paper and wrap it like candy. Place in the fridge for a few hours until firm. Enjoy with a glass of warm plant-milk :)

Chef's tip:

Cut it with a serrated knife in a sowing motion to get beautiful slices.
